Bases: TransformationPass

Cancel/merge gates exploiting commutativity relations.

Specifically, the pass:

  • Cancels pairs of inverse gates, including pairs that are inverse up to a global phase (adjusting the global phase if necessary).
  • Attempts to merge consecutive gates when possible, for example sequences of RZ-gates, RX-gates, Pauli rotations, and so on.

This pass unifies and extends the functionality of both CommutativeCancellation and CommutativeInverseCancellation.

Parameters

  • approximation_degree – the threshold used in the the average gate fidelity computation to decide whether pairs of gates can be considered as canceling or commuting.
  • matrix_max_num_qubits – Upper-bound on the number of qubits for the matrix-based commutativity and inverse checks.

Attributes

is_analysis_pass

Check if the pass is an analysis pass.

If the pass is an AnalysisPass, that means that the pass can analyze the DAG and write the results of that analysis in the property set. Modifications on the DAG are not allowed by this kind of pass.

is_transformation_pass

Check if the pass is a transformation pass.

If the pass is a TransformationPass, that means that the pass can manipulate the DAG, but cannot modify the property set (but it can be read).
